More and more crafters are moving away from blogging because of the work involved in keeping up a blog. While it is true that this is a commitment, I can't imagine not having a place to talk about everything that goes into making my stamping projects. We have gone exclusively to sharing our Stampin' Fancy Friday projects through Instagram and Facebook, so there isn't a blog hop. But I wanted to share more about the projects I made for SFF and I even have a card that wasn't shared there.
This month we are CASEing a Fancy Friend. It was really difficult because there are so many fabulous stampers on our Stampin' Fancy Friday team. But I could only choose one for the challenge, so my all-time favorite Fancy Friend stamper is Teneale Williams from Australia.
I absolutely fell in love with this card by Teneale and it had to be the one that I CASEd. She used the Humming Along stamp set and chose colors that reflected a tropical vibe. I have had this stamp set on my wish list for a while now. She used the floating die-cut technique. Teneale credits several stampers for her inspiration, but ultimately, she gives credit to Jennifer McGuire for the technique.

I tried to keep these things in mind when I created my card.
I wanted my card to have a rustic feel, so I used Crumb Cake cardstock along with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder (#142320). I think these go well with the sunflower images. And, of course, you know I had to add some Linen Thread to my card. Teneale used the Rooted in Nature stamp set for her sentiments, so I decided to stick with it too.
Another thing that Teneale did was to use the left-over flowers to create a card with the opposite effect. She also used the floating die cut technique on her second card except she used a large sentiment to fill in the center section. For my card, I did something similar, except I embossed the background layer and then stamped and die cut the sentiment for the centerpiece. I also place the sentiment on Dimensionals to make it the same height as the flowers.
I also decided not to use any sequins on the background. With the embossed background layer, I didn't really feel like they were necessary. I used Stampin' Blends to color the flowers and die cut them with the coordinating dies.
Here's a second look at both cards together. Hopefully, it will give you a better idea of how I used the positive and negative pieces to create two cards.
